Internships are a great way to foster continued learning in a real-world environment, which is why we have partnered with training organisation Readygrad to establish an internship program for international university students and recent graduates to undertake professional development.
Readygrad coordinate a Professional Internship Program (PIP) during which students gain valuable skills to prepare them for life in the Australian workforce. As part of this program, the students participate in a 12 week in-company internship designed. Readygrad also work with different universities across Australia, including CQU, CSU and Southern Cross, to place students across different educational disciplines with relevant industry companies.
Our current internship students are from a range of different study areas, including software development, project management, IT networking and infrastructure, data analytics and finance, and we are looking to expand this offering over the coming months. Our students work on real projects under the supervision of CyQIQ senior staff. They receive daily mentoring and feedback and are trained on the use of industry standard software and tools to prepare them for life after university. Here are some of the projects our interns have been involved in this month:
- The development of a Virtual Office environment
- The development of a mobile application to increase community participation in the local government area
- The analysis and design of some smart building initiatives to maximise efficiency in utility management
Internships are a great way for the students to grow their professional network and meet like-minded people facing similar challenges. It is also an easy way for you as a company to sample staff before you hire them. We are lucky to be able to provide this opportunity to the students, and it is a really rewarding experience for ourselves as a company too.
